Since childhood, Campbell has enjoyed tinkering with old objects and inventing new creations. His original idea for the land was to build a home using several freight containers. It seemed a forward-thinking concept, but then he learned about another person's unconventional dwelling.
About twenty years after formulating his initial plan, Campbell heard about Joanne Ussery, a Mississippi hairdresser. She had purchased a Boeing 727 and converted it into a home after her previous house burned down, choosing to renovate the functional airplane beside a quiet river. This inspired Campbell to reconsider his approach.
