3. Fabric softener
If you live in an area with hard water, your clothes and towels may come out of the wash feeling stiff and rough. That's why many people reach for fabric softener. However, fabric softener isn't actually great for your laundry! It can leave behind soap residue, which causes clothes to become smelly faster and wear out more quickly. Instead of fabric softener, use baking soda! It softens the water and leaves your clothes feeling soft as well. Baking soda is also a much better choice for those with perfume allergies or sensitive skin. Children often have trouble with the fragrances in fabric softeners too.
