Revolutionary Barn Find: Forgotten Jensen FF Reemerges After 30 Years

Mr. Pickard didn’t buy the Jensen FF as a collector’s showpiece or weekend toy. He owned several quarries in Staffordshire and needed a comfortable, capable, all-weather vehicle for navigating construction sites and excavations. The FF’s advanced drivetrain wasn’t just an engineering talking point—it made practical sense for his work. He even added fog lights and loud air horns, small touches that reflected a man who wanted his expensive GT to handle real-world conditions, weather, and rough terrain. In effect, it was a highly advanced British grand tourer with Italian styling and an American V8, used as a serious working machine. Over the years, Pickard drove the car extensively while maintaining it carefully. In 1973, he moved to the Isle of Man. By his death in 1997, the odometer showed about 60,000 miles—close to 100,000 kilometers. After he passed, his daughter inherited the Jensen, returned it to the mainland, and stored it in a dry garage on an estate. There it remained, undisturbed, for roughly thirty years.
