Gaze and connection
Upon examining pictures of Kate, one may observe that she consistently avoids looking directly into the camera lens. Meghan, however, frequently locks eyes with the photographer. Body language specialist Judi James elaborates on this distinction for Cosmopolitan: “Although Meghan and Kate are the same age, there is a virtual generational gap in their interactions with the camera,” Judi explains. “Like many women from the selfie era, Meghan tends to ‘court the camera’ by making direct eye contact, which indicates a desire to communicate openly and assertively, much like her peers do through social media and blogs.”
