3. Muscles and Ribs
If you experience a sharp, stabbing pain in your chest, it could be due to irritation of the cartilage and muscles connecting your ribs to your breastbone. This condition, known as Tietze Syndrome, is benign and rare, causing tenderness at the costosternal junctions. It typically resolves on its own. The stabbing sensation may also result from other factors, such as maintaining a poor posture for extended periods while working at a computer.
