Symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease
In Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss is more pronounced and rapid, especially for new information. Unlike occasional forgetfulness—such as temporarily struggling to recall a distant relative’s name only to remember it later—Alzheimer’s-related memory issues are persistent and progressive. A 2016 study in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease found that difficulty reading maps may be an early warning sign of the condition. Other early indicators include getting lost in familiar places, trouble handling finances, and repeating questions.
