According to Foodwatch, a European food quality watchdog, sugar is added to nearly half (46%) of all canned vegetables. The organization tested a wide range of Dutch brands, from premium labels to store brands, and found that 79 out of 170 cans contained added sugar—including organic varieties.

Yes, even vegetables—the ultimate health food—are being compromised by the food industry's sugar additions. Sugar was detected in canned peas, carrots, corn, red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and asparagus, among others. The good news? Green beans, mushrooms, spinach, and kale were sugar-free.
