The Most Common Mopping Mistake Almost Everyone Makes

Water Temperature

A widespread error is using warm water for mopping. You might be guilty of this too, but experts say it's not the best approach. Anoesjka Imambaks, owner of cleaning service Maid at Home, explains: "Warm water evaporates faster, leaving behind soap residue from the cleaning product. This residue causes streaks and makes the floor sticky. Instead, use cold water with just a small amount of all-purpose cleaner." Surprising, isn't it? We've been doing it wrong all this time!

Vinegar Solution

If you have laminate flooring, there's an easy trick to keep it clean and shiny: vinegar! White vinegar or cleaning vinegar works wonders for laminate floors. It eliminates concerns about streaks, spots, or grease. Simply add a splash of vinegar to a bucket of water. Also, ensure your mop is not too wet—excess moisture can cause laminate to warp or swell.
