Unwanted Guests
Dates are harvested from date palms, where large white bags cover the bunches. Why these white bags? Apparently, humans aren’t the only fans of these fruits. Without the bags, the fruits would be infested with insects such as caterpillars, beetles, and other creepy crawlies. Although the white bags keep out most creatures, they aren’t foolproof: occasionally, a small insect slips through.
