The Downside of Standing to Urinate
Urinating while standing can be detrimental to your health. Your pelvic floor muscles function optimally when you are seated, allowing them to fully relax and enable complete bladder emptying. This is especially relevant for women, whose anatomy makes standing urination less efficient. Men may find it easier to pee standing up, but even they are advised to sit for better bladder health. Only in certain situations, such as after childbirth when sitting might be painful, is standing recommended.
