Prince William has previously spoken about his long-standing devotion to Aston Villa, which dates back to his childhood. "I was obsessed with football and was on the lookout for a team," he told former footballer Gary Lineker in 2015. "Everyone supported Manchester United or Chelsea, but I didn't want to just follow the crowd. I wanted a mid-table team that would give me more emotional highs and lows."
