How QR Code Scams Work

QR codes are no longer just a digital threat; scammers now approach you in person. They may ask you to scan a QR code, for instance, to pay for a parking meter because they claim to have no cash. In some cases, victims were promised €5 in exchange for scanning a code. Unknowingly, they were directed to a phishing site where the scammer captured their banking information. This type of scam also appears on eBay through the so-called “cent trick.”
