Tonsil Stones
If you still have your tonsils, you might eventually develop tonsil stones. These form when bacteria, dead cells, and food particles get trapped in the crevices of the tonsils. While they usually don't cause serious health problems, they can lead to bad breath (halitosis) or discomfort when eating or swallowing. To ease symptoms, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth regularly, rinsing your mouth, or gargling with salt water. Sometimes, coughing can help dislodge the stone.
