
The trick is surprisingly low effort. You shut off the water, flush the tank empty, then pour in citric acid with very hot water and leave it alone for about an hour. That’s it. No aggressive scrubbing. No spending half the afternoon leaning over a toilet with gloves on. And when the water cycles back through, the difference is obvious almost immediately. The buildup loosens. The stains fade. Even the tank itself starts looking newer. But the biggest change usually happens in the bowl.
