Stop Throwing Away Eggshells—Here’s Why

How to Eat Eggshells

Eggshells are beneficial, according to the National Institutes of Health. But does that mean you should eat them whole? Not exactly. We don't recommend consuming eggshells directly. However, by grinding them into a fine powder using a food processor, you can easily add extra calcium to your meals. Follow these steps to ensure they are safe to eat:

  • If your eggs were raw, boil the shells for ten minutes to eliminate harmful bacteria.
  • Let the shells cool, then grind them into a fine powder using a food processor, coffee grinder, or salt mill.
  • Store the powder in an airtight container.
